After my last display float I got some good feedback from other float makers that I correspond with and they asked if I had ever done one with a quill as the stem, which I hadn't. So after some playing around and a new wood order arriving, I set about making my favourite type of float as a display, the Crow Quill Topper.
The body is turned from Zebrano Wood from South America whilst the tip & stem are Crow quill, mounted on a natural Yew base.
Keeping as close to the original toppers as possible with the tip painted in a single colour with minimal whippings around the body & stem
