In Anticipation

With the river closed season firmly upon us here in Yorkshire for a few weeks the preparation heads elsewhere with a few comparaduns being tied for an upcoming trip back to the river I cut my teeth on, of course the River Avon in South Lanarkshire. With the trout season already under way in Scotland it will be nice to the family and get a day on the river on my old haunts.

Size 18 comparaduns with Buff rabbit as the dubbing.

Size 18 comparaduns with rabbit under body as the dubbing

Size 16 comparaduns with dark SLF for dubbing

Size 16 comparaduns with SLF olive for dubbing

With a couple of size 16 Grannom thrown in for good measure

And if the fish arent making an appearance on top then a couple of searching nymphs to tempt them.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Barrie & Karen at BFGraphics for another excellent service with a couple of Polo tops with the flee & float logo.

During the week I tried something completely different after watching an awesome video about mayfly hatches and big trout in Sweden, and this was making my own detached bodies. So armed with the necessary materials...

Foam, paintbrush, needle and tying silk

These were the result after only one earlier attempt.

Coloured with brown & Green marker pen. Thoroughly enjoyable and another new technique learned. Everyday is a School day!
