Passing the Knowledge on

I mentioned in the last blog post how I had an interesting last trip out on the river and the knowledge that was passed to me, since then I've had a few people ask if I could put something together and pass the knowledge on, Yes I can.
Here is a 10 minute tutorial on attaching leader to fly line without the use of braid connectors and also how to put together a 3 fly cast without the use of droppers.
The 3 fly cast is intended for fishing spiders in faster pocket water which gives them movement with a short line.

I hope this helps others either starting out or rekindles some forgotten knowledge.

  1. Thanks for sharing that George

It looks a bit alien tying flies direct to the leader but if its worked for others over the years then it's definitely worth giving it a go. It would certainly cut down on the number of tangles you get.

The only drwaback for me would be not having the option of swapping flies over without having redo the whole leader. However, I'm probably guilty of changing flies too often for my own good :)

  2. Thats the only downside with this system its easier to re tie the whole rig if one fly gets damaged, but if you have faith in your spider patterns you shouldn't need to swap & change :)

  3. I have faith in the patterns, it's the fellow holding the rod I don't have faith in :)
