Rod Restoration So Far

As previously posted I bought an old Edgar Sealey 11ft Octofloat Deluxe that was in requirement of restoration so I set about stripping all the old varnish, eyes and whippings from it and gave the cane, and the cork a good scrub. I then got the silk thread out which I use for my float making so had plenty of it anyway and started doing the laborious task of whipping the intermediate threads on whilst waiting for the new high bell rod rings arriving which I had ordered from a specialist on-line.
I recently managed to get all the new eyes whipped on with a base coat of lacquer to hold them secure. The rod is now ready for the next stage of lacquering in preparation for its use as a refurbished trotting rod. Will keep you updated after it has been lacquered but here is the state of play currently.
