Taking the Pith
During a recent conversation with friends on an internet forum someone asked about constructing floats from Elderberry Pith and if it still happens. That spurred me to dig out my Elder Branch boxes from the floor of the airing cupboard where they are kept for up to 2 years to dry out and get constructing some Elder Pith Avons for this year. I only make around 20 Elder Pith Floats each season which I always number & date. These are the 1st 3 of 2010.

How do you get the pith to a feather edge so you can whip it thank Ken
ReplyDeletevery fine sanding but you have to coat the pith prior to sanding with PVA or it will disintegrate, all done by hand with a fine wet & dry paper is what I finished it off with.
