Blog Top 10

I was doing some behind the scenes work on the Blog the other night when I saw a few hits coming from a website which I did not recognise so clicked on the link & it took me to the Angling Gazette.

After a short read through I stumbled across the Best 10 Angling Blogs we have read this month and there was the Flee & Float in the top 10, here is what they said about the blog.

The Flee and The Float

A beautiful blog, written by somebody who has a passion for the traditional world of angling.  Bamboo Rods and hand made floats are his preferred weapons, or a fly rod and a river.  For those of you who just love reading and like to get caught up in the true passion and spirit of what fishing should be all about, we recommend this wonderful blog.

I have to say I wasn't even aware  that the blog reached out to the general angling fraternity as it was only started to share my ramblings with a few friends who live further afield. I thanked the Angling Gazette for their kind words and its good to know that my ramblings are enjoyed by a lot more than my few friends.

  1. Told you. So when are you going to do the Coffee Table book? You know, the kind of thing with one huge photo on one page and a bit of prose on the other.

Ask yourself this: how many ardent anglers are out there? How many family members of theirs rack their brains for a smart birthday, Christmas or Father's Day present?

Your photography is excelent and your prose evocative.

I don't comment as often as I should but if you are tracking your stats you will know I am a very regular visitor to your blog. It is one of the best angling blogs out there. It's the only one I have on my sidebar!

  2. Sorry to comment again but I just want to point some things out to you. And they are all your fault.

I discovered your blog so astonished my wife by bringing in a huge great excavator to dig a lake, so badly did I want to fly fish again.

I stocked the lake in spite of all the ridicule I had to endure.

There are now pan sized fish of many kinds leaping around in the lake. So many, in fact, that I have had to deal with poachers trying to net it in the middle of the night.

Alex, my four year old son is now mad keen on fishing.

Alex and I read your blog, well, he looks at the photographs and I read the text and together we talk about the photographs.

Imagine if I could buy him a Flee & Float big photo book and we could snuggle together on the sofá and read it?

  3. Thanks for the vote of confidence mate but I doubt it will ever happen, maybe a small booklet but never a book. When am I getting the VIP treatment and private jet picking me up for my fly fishing holiday .......lol

  4. I've been reading your blog for about three months now and look forward to your new posts. I'm trying to get back into river fly fishing this season (having joined DBTAC) and being a fellow Tees angler find that your successes give me a bit of confidence and vital instruction.

    Keep up the good work.

    Regards

    Dave
